Peace in The Valley - Rev Lonnie Farris
The Reverend Lonnie Farris released 16 records under his own name between 1962 and 1964. His silky smooth Hawaiian guitar playing is an unusual addition to the Gospel tradition, which in this number has a valedictory quality that is both strangley uplifting and poignant. Combined with the stripped back percussion and the evidently intense devotion of his vocals, the recording haunts and lingers in the memory.
